Easy steps to migrate your WordPress website to another domain: No doubt tech companies create incredibly tough competition when it comes to providing any sort of service to the customer and in that run customers also want to compete in their own business. Now why a customer wants to “migrate” a domain?
The word migrate refers to the transfer of one website domain into a new one. There may be several reasons related to moving from one domain to another including buying a new domain, switching from one hosting company to another. Transferring to another domain is easy and pretty convincing when you don’t get the kind of services that the rest of the companies provide you like ours, The Web Company.
A guide to migrating your WordPress website to another domain in 20 simple steps:
1. Go to the cPanel and open the File Manager section.
2. There you will find the public_html file among the rest which you need to zip if your files are directly stored here or else open public_html and zip the file containing your data.
3. Now download this compressed file to your local device.
4. Again in the cPanel go to phpMyAdmin of your domain and then export the database related to your website.
(Note: You can also check data related to your website via the wpconfiguration.php file.)
5. Export the database into SQL format
(Note: If you don’t know your database, go to wpconfiguration.php file and check the related file.)
6. However, after exporting the file, open it in Notepad and replace the old domain with the new domain by pressing Ctrl + H and replace the old domain name with a new one under the Find what option and click Replace All.
7. Save the file into the same location under the same name and then open the destination cPanel where you want to move the data.
8. Go to File Manager and then to public_html.
9. Upload the zipped files in the public_html and click on the go back option.
10. Extract the recently uploaded zip files and place them into the current location i.e. public_html.
11. Go to MySQL®Databases and create a new database and then a new database user with a password and then go back.
(Note: Also make sure to remember all the information that you are providing.)
12. Now you need to add that user to the current database by selecting it from Add User to Database and then click over add.
13. Check in All privileges and click Make Changes.
14. Go back to the cPanel and then go to phpMyAdmin which is your new domain now.
15. Here you need to transfer your whole data. Select the currently created database and click Import.
16. Under import browse your SQL file from the previous cPanel.
17. Click SQL as format and then click Go. This way your database will be uploaded into your current cPanel account.
18. Go to File Manager and then again to public_html then to the installation directory or edit wp-config.php inside public_html.
19. In the wp-config.php file replace the DB_NAME, DB_USER, and DB_PASSWORD with the new ones and save the changes.
20. Now open the destination website in your browser where your WordPress website is successfully transferred along with all the data.
